Installing PostgreSQL and PHPPgMyAdmin on Ubuntu 14


here is how to install PostgreSQL & PHPPgMyAdmin  on Ubuntu 14 in easy way :

  1.  sudo apt-get install phppgadmin
  2. sudo cp /etc/apache2/conf.d/phppgadmin /etc/apache2/conf-enabled/phppgadmin.conf
  3. sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart
  4. sudo su – postgres (user created at installation)
  5. postgres@yusuf-VirtualBox:~$ psql
    psql (9.3.9)
    Type “help” for help.

    postgres=# create role john;
    CREATE ROLE
    postgres=# \password john;
    Enter new password:
    Enter it again:
    postgres=#alter role john with LOGIN;

    postgres=# \q

  6. Continue with PHPPgMyAdmin Installation
  7. sudo apt-get install php5-pgsql
  8. sudo vi /etc/phppgadmin/config.inc.php
  9. Edit $conf[‘extra_login_security’] = true; to $conf[‘extra_login_security’] = false;
  10. go to http://localhost/phppgadmin/ click PostgreSQL in server column then login using user john
